More Than A Mouse

Without a doubt, the biggest attraction in Florida, has to be Walt Disney World. But it is big in a number of ways that go beyond the first glimpse of rides and pageantry.

For one, the entire layout covers some 30,000 acres or 47 square miles, with only 1/4 of that being developed, and another 1/4 set aside as a wildlife preserve. Part of that setting includes the Disney Yacht and Beach Club Resort, where you'll find the world's largest sand bottomed pool, holding 750,000 gallons of water.

The tallest attraction on the grounds is the thrill seekers Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which at 199ft. high, has a lot of ups and downs in store for visitors. One of the "longest" might include the replica of Steamboat Willie which is used in every Fantasmic! Performance to carry 26 costumed characters across a moat. The ship in total length is bigger than all three of the vessels in Christopher Columbus' expedition when he discovered America.

Who creates and takes care of all this stuff you might ask. And a good question it is. Epcot Center has around 50,000 people engaged in the various tasks that keep Walt Disney World functioning. In fact, WD is the largest employer in central Florida.
