Justin Timberlake was literally the "toast of the town", long before the infamous wardrobe malfunction with Janet Jackson, which took place during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. Still a teenager, he was wowing audiences as the focal singer/player of the band N*SYNC, one of the hottest rock groups around at the time.
As such, Timberlake was highly sought after for interviews and in March of 2000, appeared on the hit New York City radio station, Z100, and their Z Morning Zoo program.
It was early, and the group were served breakfast. Timberlake either wasn't hungry, or didn't care for French toast. He ate only one bite of it. The station promptly whisked away the leftovers and put them up for bid on eBay, offering the toast (extra syrup), fork and plate used by Timberlake. The winning bid at closing was over $3,000. Proceeds from the auction were given to charity.
