Whatever Happened To Actor Woody Harrelson?

Actor Woody Harrelson, best known for his role as Woody on the popular sitcom Cheers, was born in Midland, Texas in 1961.  Harrelson's family later moved to Lebanon, Ohio, where he spent most of his teen years.

Harrelson attended Hanover College in Indiana and graduated with degrees in English and Theatre Arts.  He started his career as an understudy in Neil Simon's "Biloxi Blues," but landed his role on "Cheers" months later.

He found much success on the "Cheers" set and was honored with the 1989-90 Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Due to a demanding TV schedule, Harrelson found it difficult to find time to make films.  He did make appearances in the movies Wildcats (1986) and Cool Blue (1988) (V).

But it wasn't until he starred in the 1992 box office smash "White Man Can't Jump" that he established himself as premier film actor. He followed immediately with two hits, Indecent Proposal (1993), Natural Born Killers (1994) and The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996), for which he earned an Oscar nomination.

What has Harrelson been up to since?

He did a few movies such as Wag the Dog (1999), The Thin Red Line (1998) and EdTV (1999), but none of them were huge box office draws.

In 2000, Harrelson teamed up with Antonio Banderas in "Play It to the Bone" as an aspiring boxer who travels to Las Vegas to find fame and fortune.

Harrelson lives with his former assistant, Laura Louie, and their two daughters.

Harrelson and his wife are both certified yoga instructors and opened their own oxygen bar called O2.  They are also busy running their own production company.
