| Whatever Happened To Singer Paula Abdul
(Rush Rush)
Paula Abdul is known for making a big splash
in the late 80's with her third single "Straight Up" from her debut album
"Forever Your Girl."
Before Paula started her singing career,
she was a Los Angeles Laker cheerleader and dance choreographer.
Noticed by the Jackson Five, she helped choreograph Janet Jackson's "Control"
video. After her success working with a variety of bands in the 80's, she
launched her own successful career. Her debut album produced a string
of number one hits. In 1991, Paula married actor Emilio Estevez and
released her second album "Spellbound" which produced two #1 hits.
Her personal problems became public in
1992 and she admitted that she was suffering from bulimia and checked herself
into a clinic. In 1994, she and Estevez divorced citing irreconcilable
differences, but still remain friends to this day. In 1995, she released
her third album "Head Over Heels", which barely hit the top 100 album chart.
In 1996, she married clothing manufacturer
Brad Beckerman of Starter. That marriage only lasted 17 months and
they ended up divorcing in 1997. That same year she made her acting
debut on a made for TV movie, "Touched By Evil," a true story of woman
recovering from a brutal rape. In 1998, she established her own dance
company, Co Dance and released her second aerobic video.
Paula has been working on a new show "Skirts"
for MTV. Most recently she had been choreographing Martin Lawrence's
new big-screen comedy "Black Knight." |
