| Whatever Happened To Actor Rick Moranis?
(Honey I Shrunk The Kids)
Rick Moranis was born on April 18, 1953
in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Moranis started working for radio stations
and television while he was in high school. He was a deejay for a
Toronto radio station, CHUM-FM, back in the seventies.
Rick Moranis got his biggest break when
he starred on the popular Canadian TV show "SCTV." The skits that
Moranis was involved in, which mimicked many different Canadian stereotypes,
did so well that it was used in the American version of the program, which
ended up becoming a feature film.
Moranis also did another movie after this
called "Streets of Fire." However, he hit it big with the 1984 blockbuster
"Ghostbusters," in which he played a lovable nerd. After this, he
did some movies that did well such as "Little Shop of Horrors," but movies
like this were offset by movies such as "The Wild Life." His next
big movie was "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids."
In the early 90's, Moranis started working
in low profile roles. He got offered a role in "City Slickers" but
turned it down as his wife, Anne, became very ill. His wife had cancer
and unfortunately died in February 1991. He had two children with
her and was left to take care of them on his own. The last movie
that he starred in was Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.
In 1996, Rick Moranis started his own production
company, and currently lives in New York City. |
