| Whatever Happened To Fran Drescher?
Fran Drescher was born on September 30,
1957, in Queens, New York. Her first line ever spoken in a movie
was, "Are you as good in bed as you are on the dance floor?" in Saturday
Night Fever.
Small roles in other films followed Saturday
Night Fever, but Drescher is best known for her role in the comedy sitcom
"The Nanny." Her role earned her "Best Actress in a comedy series"
Emmy nominations.
She married her boyfriend Peter Marc Jacobson
in the early 80's and the both of them worked to promote her career.
Many producers told her that she would have to get rid of her thick New
York accent if she wanted to be successful. She obviously proved
them wrong. In 1985, Fran and her husband were robbed and she was
also raped during the robbery. In 1996 Fran and Peter separated.
They divorced in October of 1999.
In 2000, Drescher began treatment for uterine
cancer, which led to her having a hysterectomy. During that time,
she wrote the second book, titled Cancer Schmancer, which was published
this year. Her first book was published in 1997 and was titled "Enter
Whining."
Frescher has more recently spending her
days making public service announcements and raising money for cancer.
"I feel like I have a purpose now that's more meaningful to me," the actress
told MSNBC in April. |
