Whatever Happened To...?
Whatever Happened To Comedian David Adkins (Sinbad)?

David Adkins was born on November 10, 1956 in Benton Harbor,  Michigan, USA.  He renamed himself Sinbad because he liked that the mythical Sinbad was bad.

Sinbad was a huge basketball fan when he was growing up and won a basketball scholarship to the Univeristy of Denver.  He was nicknamed "Red Chamberlain" and had "Baby Wilt" written on the side of his car.

Sinbad began his stand-up comedy routine in 1983 and worked performed as various comedy clubs until he got his big break when he appeared on the show "Star Search."

Actor Bill Cosby became a big fan of Sinbad and cast him in the TV sitcom "A Different World" from 1991 to 1993.  In 1993, Sinbad eventually got his own show "The Sinbad Show" and he was also the executive producer of the show.

His more popular movie appearances include Necessary Roughness (1991), Coneheads (1993), Houseguest (1994), and Jingle All the Way (1996).

What has he been up to since?

In 1997, Sinbad replaced Chris Spencer of late-night talk show "Vibe."  Unfortunately the show was cancelled after a short run.

In 1998, Sinbad came out with his biography titled "Sinbad - A Real Life Reader Biography", which details his life and rise to stardom.

Sinbad also went on to do voices in the animated features, Happily Ever After Fairy Tales: The Frog Prince and Rascals Presents: Comedy Knockouts.

In 2003, Sinbad is gone back to doing stand up comedy and is currently performing at various venues around the USA.
