Adkins (Sinbad)?
David Adkins was born on November 10, 1956
in Benton Harbor, Michigan, USA. He renamed himself Sinbad
because he liked that the mythical Sinbad was bad.
Sinbad was a huge basketball fan when he
was growing up and won a basketball scholarship to the Univeristy of Denver.
He was nicknamed "Red Chamberlain" and had "Baby Wilt" written on the side
of his car.
Sinbad began his stand-up comedy routine
in 1983 and worked performed as various comedy clubs until he got his big
break when he appeared on the show "Star Search."
Actor Bill Cosby became a big fan of Sinbad
and cast him in the TV sitcom "A Different World" from 1991 to 1993.
In 1993, Sinbad eventually got his own show "The Sinbad Show" and he was
also the executive producer of the show.
His more popular movie appearances include
Necessary Roughness (1991), Coneheads (1993), Houseguest (1994), and Jingle
All the Way (1996).
What has he been up to since?
In 1997, Sinbad replaced Chris Spencer
of late-night talk show "Vibe." Unfortunately the show was cancelled
after a short run.
In 1998, Sinbad came out with his biography
titled "Sinbad - A Real Life Reader Biography", which details his life
and rise to stardom.
Sinbad also went on to do voices in the
animated features, Happily Ever After Fairy Tales: The Frog Prince and
Rascals Presents: Comedy Knockouts.
In 2003, Sinbad is gone back to doing stand
up comedy and is currently performing at various venues around the USA. |
