| Whatever Happened To Singer Cyndi Lauper?
Cyndi Lauper was born in Brooklyn, New
York on June 22, 1953. She is best known for her popular songs in
the 80's such as, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," and "Time After Time."
She had always had an interest in music, and at the age of 12 she started
playing the guitar and writing lyrics to songs.
In the late 70's Cyndi started performing
as a vocalist for different bands in New York. She sang some songs
that were originally by Led Zeppelin, and Bad Company. In 1977, Cyndi
damaged her vocal cords and was left with no voice. She went through
a lot of therapy and got her voice back. In 1983 Cyndi Lauper signed
a deal with Portrait Record. Her first album, "She's So Unusual"
sold 4.5 million copies in the U.S. From that album she scored four
Top Five singles.
In 1991, Cyndi Lauper got married to actor
David Thorton, and shortly after that released her fourth album, which
contained a lot of her singles hits. She got pregnant in 1994 with
a boy and while pregnant toured with Tina Turner for three months as a
special guest. She worked on a a sticom at one time, but it was never
broadcasted. Recently she has appeared on the TV sitcom "Mad About You,"
a couple of times, and toured with Cher in 1999. Cyndi has starred
in several movies such as, "Off and Running," and "Life With Mickey.
She also sang for the recent movie, "Rugrats in Paris."She is now concentrating
on being a mother. |
