| Whatever Happened To Actor Corey Haim?
Canadian-born actor Corey Haim (December
23, 1971) rocketed to stardom in the late 1980's with starring roles in
the movie hits "The Lost Boys" (1987) and "License to Drive" (1988).
Haim was commonly paired up with Corey Feldman in movies that helped both
of them achieve heart-throb status with many young girls.
In the early years, when Haim was 11 years
old, he started acting in commercials, filmed in Toronto. He auditioned
and landed a full-time role on the Canadian TV series "The Edison Twins".
He made his film debut in the movie "Firstborn" (1984). He won rave reviews
for his performance of a mysterious high school student in the sleeper
hit "Lucas (1986).
In 1993, Haim was charged for pulling a
fake handgun out during a dispute with his business manager. The charges
were later reduced from felony to misdemeanor. But that was just the beginning
of Haim's troubles that would follow.
Haim developed a substance abuse problem
that hurt his career and insurer Lloyd's of London filed a lawsuit against
Haim for failing to tell them that he had a drug problem since he was 15
years old.
In 1997, he had to file for bankruptcy
protection because of the money he owed the IRS and state taxes.
Haim had been starring in made for video
movies, but his drug problems seem to be hindering him.
More recently in August 2001, he was found
unconscious in his Los Angeles bungalow by his mother, who called an ambulance.
Haim slipped into a coma for the night and the doctors confirmed that it
was a drug overdose.
There doesn't seem to be an end to Haim's
nightmare world of drugs. Haim hit an all-time low he started auctioning
off his body parts on eBay. Desperate for cash, he had been cutting his
hair and selling it to his handful of fans.
Ebay stopped his auctions as it goes against
there policy of not letting people auction off human body parts. |
