I was almost certain that this name had to do something with Star Trek and Mr. Spock, but I was wrong. In the early 1900’s, the first settlers arrived in Vulcan and it wasn’t too many years later in 1910 that the Canadian Pacific Railway reached the same area. It is believed that a railway surveyor named the town Vulcan, after the Greek Gods of Mount Olympus. He did this because this area had the highest elevation of the Canadian Pacific Railway across the prairies. |
