The sandwich was invented in the 1700's. The Earl of Sandwich was gambling one day and did not want to get up to eat, so he ordered his food in between two slices of bread and that is how the sandwich was invented.

  Actually, it was he was playing poker and got hungry and did not want to ruin the cards so he had it placed between to pieces of bread.
