By pch216 82 Days AgoBudweiser has been brewed in what is now the Czech Republic for a couple hundred years. During the 1800's many central Europeans migrated to the US and all knew of this beer. The beer we know today stole the name, marketed and sold their beer as the original. The original Budweiser in Czech sued for trademark infringement after communism fell since they could not do so before then. They lost.
By Anonymous 386 Days AgoThis may be true, but the origional Budweiser beer recipie, was stolen from a Chechoslovakiain brewery. So it is in reality not an American beer but European.
By Anonymous 386 Days AgoBudweiser was originally brewed in Prague. The American company took advantage of weak international copyright laws to use the name, hoping to sell to an already established clientelle. The original "Budweiser" beer now sells in the U.S. under the label "Pilsner Urquell."
By Anonymous 386 Days AgoThe original Budweiser is from Ceske Budejovice in southern Czech Republic. I just visited the brewery. The original recipe wasn't stolen... just the name... American Budweiser and Czech Budvar are two different worlds. It's not Pilsner Urquel, which is from Pilzn, Czech Republic (been there too). In america the original Budweiser is called Czechvar... and It's GREAT.... unlike watery bud. :)
