The martial arts as a whole can be traced back to India when a Prince left. Traveling to China he met a Buddist monistary where he taught them Kung Fu in order to protect themselves. Karate was developed by mostly farmers on the Japanese island of Okinawa in order to defend them selfs against Japanese soldiers, while they were occupied by Japan.
