It was a man named Antonio Mucci! (pronounced 'moo-chi') who didn't have enough money to pay the patent, Alexander said that he would pay the patent and be repaid later. Someone in authority accused Alexander of fraud and he was put on trial, however died before a verdict was reached and took the claim of the invention with him!
