“May your blessings outnumber, the shamrocks that grow, And may trouble avoid you wherever you go.”

Saint Patrick's Day (March 17) has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.
What brings good luck on Saint Patrick's Day? Finding a 4leaf clover, wearing green and kissing the blarney stone... According to legend, kissing the stone endows the kisser with the gift of gab, eloquence or skill at flattery. The term Blarney means 'the ability to influence and coax with fair words and soft speech without giving offense'.
The first American celebration of St. Patricks Day was at Boston in 1737.
St Patrick is credited with establishing the Leap Year tradition of women proposing to men because they were tired of waiting for marriage proposals.
Believe it or not, the colour of St. Patrick was not actually green, but blue! In the 19th century, however, green came to be used as a symbol for Ireland.
